Welcoming A Fire Truck Home
The community, including some future fire fighters, turned out to see Leland’s new Engine 51 welcomed into its new home with a traditional fire engine pushing ceremony. According to Leland Fire Chief Chris Langlois the ceremony recalls the times when fire engines were pulled by horses and then unhitched and pushed into the fire station by the fire fighters. The brand new Engine 51 replaces an aging vehicle that will be put on reserve status, Langlois said.
