January’s meeting features fiber/textile artist Louise Giordano as guest speaker. Fiber and textiles have been the fabric of Giordano’s life since childhood. Initially a knitter and crocheter, her passion now is felting to create functional and wearable fabrics designed to enhance beauty, whether on the body or as decoration for the home. Largely self-trained, she has pursued a variety of classes, workshops, and courses in nuno felting with nationally and internationally known felt artists.

By combining and merging merino wool roving through fine silk fabrics and adding other embellishments, Giordano creates scarves and wraps that drape beautifully on the body but can also be used as wall hangings or table runners. Most recently she has been experimenting with felted hats and bags. Her work is available at City Pottery & Fine Crafts in The Cotton Exchange.
