Small Business Expos!

First Annual Belville / Leland Small Business Expo & Chamber Expo! Both March 3rd. BY Ami Brown The Belville/Leland Small Business Expo is free and open to the public! 30+ local businesses and vendors will have their information and products to present to the public at Blossoms Banquet Room. March 3, 11:00am - 2:00pm. This is a great opportunity to meet your local business owners!

Lara Bair, organizer answered a few of my questions about the Expo: What inspired you to put this event together? I began this venture last summer, to help promote our small, local businesses, in the most cost-effective manner possible. As our area continues to see unprecedented growth, keeping our small businesses is vital to our community. The owners and employees are our family, our friends and our neighbors. How has the business community responded to the Expo? The response has been overwhelming! I have completely booked our space, and in less than 5 days from the time that it was announced! I am still encouraging local business owners to attend. They can still network, meet other business owners and potential customers. Why is it so important for people to buy local? My mission is to help not only sustain our small businesses, but help them be even more successful. As more chain businesses move in, our small businesses will have trouble competing, in part due to financial reasons. That’s where my Facebook page comes into play. Our local businesses can advertise there for free, and I also try to post daily about different businesses. I would encourage residents and customers to not only shop locally, but share their great experiences with everyone they can. Social media makes that a very simple process now. Leland and Belville are growing rapidly... how does this affect small business? I began planning this expo in January. During our previous small business events, people expressed an interest in having personal space to set up material, and offer direct sales. This expo offers a unique experience for both business owners, and residents. They have an opportunity to meet each other, make their experiences more personal, and it will be like a one stop shopping experience!
